Unit Money-Earning Application
Planning a fundraiser for your Pack, Troop, Crew, or Ship? We’re here to help make the approval process simple.
Scouting America units may conduct money-earning projects to help support their unit programs, activities, and opportunities for Scouts. Before moving forward with an independent fundraising project, units must submit a Unit Money-Earning Application to the Coastal Georgia Council for review and approval.
Do I Need to Submit This Form?
You should complete a Unit Money-Earning Application if your unit is planning its own fundraising activity outside of a council-coordinated fundraiser.
You do not need to submit this application for council-coordinated fundraising projects, such as council popcorn sales or Scout show ticket sales.
Submit Your Application at Least 14 Days in Advance
Please submit your completed application at least two weeks before your unit commits to the fundraiser or begins the activity.
Fundraising activities must receive written approval from the council before moving forward.
We recommend submitting your application as early as possible so there is plenty of time for review and any necessary follow-up.
Before You Get Started
Having the following information ready will make completing the form easier:
- Your unit number, chartered organization, community, and district
- A description of the proposed fundraiser
- The amount your unit expects to earn
- How the funds will be used
- Proposed fundraising dates
- Information about any products or tickets being sold
- Whether Scouts will wear their uniforms during the activity
- Information about any contracts associated with the fundraiser
- Your unit’s current dues, treasury balance, and participation in council fundraising
- Approval from your Chartered Organization Representative, Unit Leader, and Unit Committee Chair
Fundraising Guidelines
All unit money-earning projects should reflect the values and standards of Scouting America.
Before submitting your application, please review the fundraising guidelines included with the form. Among other requirements, unit fundraisers should:
- Support a genuine unit program need
- Avoid games of chance or gambling, including raffles
- Avoid direct solicitation of monetary donations by youth
- Avoid inappropriate use of the Scouting America name or reputation for commercial purposes
- Follow Scouting America policies regarding uniforms during fundraising
- Avoid conflicts with neighboring units, your chartered organization, council fundraising efforts, and local businesses
- Receive approval from your chartered organization
If you are unsure whether your proposed fundraiser meets Scouting America guidelines, please contact the Coastal Georgia Council before committing to the activity.
